P&ID
Field verification and Redraw
MSB&A design and
drafting has many years experience in the walkdown and redraw of piping
and instrument diagrams for several major refineries. MSB&A has been
responsible for the complete walkdown and CAD redraw of several units,
whose documentation was either incomplete or nonexistent. MSB&A was
instrumental in providing accurate field representation and critical
data for regulatory requirements and unit maintenance.
Product
Assurance/ Contingency System
MSB&A Designers
and Drafters Work with Product Assurance/Operations to isolate different
product systems and product flow within a refinery, including walkdowns
and field sketching. These sketches are redrawn in CAD creating plan
drawings and isometric details for applicable reference for Operations
and Maintenance.
EMPROV
Drawings
MSB&A was entrusted
with the task of providing drawings using the existing P&Ids as a reference
attachment, which highlighted each system throughout a unit with a unique
color. The critical requirement was that the existing P&Ids could not
be altered in any way. In the beginning stages of this project, MSB&A
was tasked with the responsibility of proving that the desired outcome
could be achieved without resulting in a change to the system P&Ids.
MSB&A achieved this goal and to date several units have been completed,
with several more anticipated in the near future.
Corrosion
Drawings
The corrosion drawings
are flow diagrams created in color, with assigned colors to each type
of material used in a process system. One look at the corrosion drawing
and all parts of the process can quickly be analyzed by material and
main process flow.
Automated
Field Terminal Assembly and Marshaling Rack Drawings
The MSB&A drafting
group developed a method of linking the Loop Wiring Database, which
was recovered from a console download from the TDC-2000 equipment being
replaced and then modified for use by the instrumentation designers,
to the CAD software. This allowed the 150 field terminal assembly and
marshaling rack drawings to be generated automatically. This prevented
a multitude of keystroke errors associated with the manual entry of
loop wiring data for 1300 points across eight termination points each.
Laser
Imaging Distance and Ranging (L.I.D.A.R.)
MSB&A provides the
ability to create accurate as-built 3D documentation of existing structures,
in a safe, cost effective manner. Utilizing the Cyrax 2400 laser imaging
system, it can be pointed at high structures from large distances, making
it unnecessary to build scaffolding for access and risky manual measurement.
Once the scanner captures a location, data representing the location
become instantly 3D-viewable with full rotation, fly-around, pan and
zoom capabilities. This scanned information can then be modeled into
a CAD model and dimensioned. Future expansions can be added to the existing
model with various piping software packages, and full construction isometrics
and plan views can be created for the project. New construction can
then be checked against existing equipment and corrections made before
any actual work has begun.
