M S Benbow Earns Place on New Orleans Top Workplaces 2017
New Orleans engineering consultancy earns top employer honor for second consecutive year
METAIRIE, La.—June 2, 2017—For the second year, professional engineering firm M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) has earned a place on New Orleans “Top Workplaces” list. MSB ranked 13th among 20 companies on The Times Picayune’s Top Workplaces 2017 Small Employer list. A total of 40 companies were honored.
The recognitions were awarded based on survey results from more than 8,600 employees of 72 participating organizations to determine the New Orleans area’s Top Workplaces. The employee survey, conducted by Workplace Dynamics, sought responses from 24 statements covering areas including organizational health factors that measure employee engagement and how well employees are working together toward a common cause.
Engaged employees are motivated to do great work, stay loyal to the organization and recommend the organization to others, according to Workplace Dynamics. The Top Workplaces 2017 survey weighed employee responses to determine the company’s strengths in important areas including the company’s direction, innovation and ethics and value placed on its employees, as well as company management, work/life balance and opportunities for growth.

Taking on new, complex engineering projects in a variety of sectors, MSB grew its employees by 19 percent in the past year. In 2016, MSB conducted a benefits evaluation and expanded the company’s benefits package. The company also instituted bi-weekly employee surveys on a variety of topics to ensure employee engagement and gather input into how the growing engineering firm operates and rewards its staff.
MSB in recent years has introduced an Employee Wellness program that includes group wellness events, a Health Lunch Club and Wellness Recognition Awards. The firm also schedules a quarterly all-staff presentation to keep employees up to date on recent achievements, initiatives and projects and to distribute Safety Recognition Awards, Peer-to-Peer Recognition Awards and Employee Service Awards. MSB employees are engaged in a variety of charitable organizations, including the United Way of Greater New Orleans, Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Hospital, and Special Olympics, along with several workforce development and regional economic development associations.
