2021 ISTC Safety Award Goes to MSB for 13 Years of Sustained Performance
METAIRIE, La.–(February 9, 2022)– In order to earn the Industrial Safety Training Council’s (ISTC) Sustained Performance Award, the qualifying company must achieve a “zero” recordable incidence rate for three consecutive years. In 2021, M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) won this award for the 4th consecutive year (not including pandemic-stricken 2020 when no award was given).
MSB is extremely proud of this achievement and takes special pride in the fact that 2021 marked the 13th consecutive year that the company achieved a “zero” recordable incidence rate.
“A good record of safety doesn’t just happen on its own,” said MSB President and CEO Leo Holzenthal, Jr., P.E. “In order to operate safely, you have to make safety a priority,” he continued. “We’re very proud that we have instilled a robust culture of safety at MSB that touches every single part of our company’s operations.”
The Industrial Safety Training Council is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit training and education organization located in Southeast Texas. ISTC delivers safety training and site-specific job safety orientations to contractors as well as the employees of 76 local Refining and Chemical plants.
Their Safety Achievement Awards program recognizes safety excellence that contractors have achieved through diligence and dedication for the safety of employees and clients.
MSB’s Safety Culture
As Mr. Holzenthal said, a pervasive safety culture is necessary in order to conduct daily operations in a truly safe manner. MSB supports a comprehensive program for promoting safety as one of the company’s core values. The company’s internal safety controls include a safety specialist, stringent third-party safety training, client-specific safety training, pre-job safety and hazard analysis for each project, weekly and monthly safety meetings, a background screening, and drug testing program, and incident investigation procedure.
