MSB Team Participates in St. Charles Parish Battle for the Paddle to Support United Way

METAIRIE, LA. — (October 7, 2022)— M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) returned for the fifth year to compete in the 2022 Battle for the Paddle Jambalaya and Gumbo Cook-Off benefiting the United Way of St. Charles Parish. The Battle for the Paddle returned this fall after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The event kicks off the annual fundraising campaign for the United Way of St. Charles and raises awareness for the organization’s service to this community.

MSB faced off against approximately 25 other family and industry teams competing for the titles of “Best Jambalaya” and “Best Gumbo” during the 19th-annual charity cook-off. Jefferson Parish Names M S Benbow & Associates to Oversee 5G Wireless Network Assessment

Ultra-fast 5G wireless network will usher in advancements such as smart meters, VR and new era of the Internet of Things (IoT)

METAIRIE, LA. —(April 21, 2020)—M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) telecommunications engineering division will lead Jefferson Parish’s 5G cellular network assessment under a two-year contract to provide technical analysis services to develop a framework for deployment of the next generation of ultra-fast wireless connections.

Telecommunications firms say 5G will increase web browsing speed to 8x the current capacity and allow for the evolution of Smart Cities that will usher in technical advancements such as smart meters, self-driving cars, virtual reality and a new era of the Internet of Things (IoT).

MSB Engineers Serve as Judges for First Lego League Robotics State Championship

60 Teams Compete in Head-to-Head Robotics Competition Supporting STEM Education

METAIRIE, LA. —(March 24, 2020)— M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) engineers and technical staff volunteered as judges for the Louisiana FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Robotics State Championship (RSC). MSB’s staff interviewed and observed teams of middle school students competing in the robotics tournament, which took place Jan. 18 at Jesuit High School in New Orleans.

FLL offers an opportunity for students aged 9-14 to design, build and compete with a robot constructed of LEGOs and to investigate a challenge associated with the annual competition theme. The 2019/2020 FLL City Shaper challenge focused on creating innovative solutions to help cities and towns shape an optimal future using our environment and modern-day tools and technology.

MSB’s Food and Toy Drive Brings Comfort to Local Families at Holidays

Thanksgiving Meals and Holiday Gifts Deliver Cheer to Families in Need

METAIRIE — (Dec. 31, 2019) — M S Benbow & Associates employees came together to deliver holiday joy to New Orleans families in need, adopting families to receive the bounty of the engineering consultancy’s Thanksgiving food drive and Christmas toy drive.

MSB collected items to deliver a full Thanksgiving meal to six families who are clients of Travelers Aid Society New Orleans, a nonprofit committed to helping homeless or stranded families and individuals regain a self-sufficient lifestyle. Employees provided donations, which included turkeys, stuffing, side dishes, desserts, gift cards, and cooking and serving supplies. Continue reading

MSB Names John C. Carter, III, Electrical Engineering Department Manager

METAIRIE, LA.—(Oct. 10, 2019)—M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) has appointed John C. Carter, III, P.E., P.M.P., manager of the firm’s Electrical Engineering Department. With over 25 years in supervisory, project management and engineering experience, Carter has provided technical leadership over large, multi-site design projects undertaken to improve the reliability of off-site and on-site power systems.

Carter has worked nationally with clients on electrical power studies, electrical maintenance, electrical risk mitigation and cyber security. His background includes high-profile design projects in the energy sector encompassing generator excitation, voltage regulation, fuel oil storage, transformer replacements, control system digital upgrades, protective relaying and diesel generators. Among his experience, he was project engineer for a $600 million medium-voltage nuclear substation construction project and supervised a team of 10 design engineers implementing a condensor retube nuclear safety project.

This year, MSB was sponsor of the awards for outstanding investigative projects in the field of Electrical Engineering Senior Division, awarded to innovative electrical engineering projects by high school students. MSB CEO and Founding Partner Michael S. Benbow, P.E., is GNOSEF Past President and a member of the Board of Directors. The 63rd-annual regional science fair took place over Feb. 18-22 at the Tulane University Lavin-Bernick Center.
