MSB Engineers Serve as Judges for First Lego League Robotics State Championship

60 Teams Compete in Head-to-Head Robotics Competition Supporting STEM Education

METAIRIE, LA. —(March 24, 2020)— M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) engineers and technical staff volunteered as judges for the Louisiana FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Robotics State Championship (RSC). MSB’s staff interviewed and observed teams of middle school students competing in the robotics tournament, which took place Jan. 18 at Jesuit High School in New Orleans.

FLL offers an opportunity for students aged 9-14 to design, build and compete with a robot constructed of LEGOs and to investigate a challenge associated with the annual competition theme. The 2019/2020 FLL City Shaper challenge focused on creating innovative solutions to help cities and towns shape an optimal future using our environment and modern-day tools and technology.

Under the program, MSB has hired a New Orleans high school student for a summer internship at the multi-discipline engineering consultancy.

Metairie, LA. —March 21, 2019—M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) once again is taking part in the region’s longest-running academic event committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers, the Greater New Orleans Science & Engineering Fair (GNOSEF).

This year, MSB was sponsor of the awards for outstanding investigative projects in the field of Electrical Engineering Senior Division, awarded to innovative electrical engineering projects by high school students. MSB CEO and Founding Partner Michael S. Benbow, P.E., is GNOSEF Past President and a member of the Board of Directors. The 63rd-annual regional science fair took place over Feb. 18-22 at the Tulane University Lavin-Bernick Center.

Leo L. Holzenthal, Jr., P.E., Named to Core Element Board of Directors

Nonprofit Supports Educational Curricula to Inspire Interest in STEM Fields

METAIRIE, La.—March 7, 2019—M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) President Leo Holzenthal, Jr., P.E., has been elected to the board of directors of the Greater New Orleans STEM Initiative (GNOSTEM), formerly Core Element, a non-profit dedicated to promoting quality teaching in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) in the Greater New Orleans Region.

Holzenthal has more than 30 years of experience in Power, Control Systems and Telecommunications Engineering and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations at the engineering consultancy, which operates two offices in Greater New Orleans area, Houston and Dallas with more than 100 employees. Holzenthal is an adjunct professor at the University of New Orleans College of Engineering. He earned the 2015 James M. Todd Technological Accomplishment Award from the Louisiana Engineering Society. MSB Participates in GNO Science & Engineering Fair (GNOSEF)

NEW ORLEANS一(March 2, 2018)一Engineering consultancy M S Benbow & Associates (MSB) took part in the 62nd-annual Greater New Orleans Science & Engineering Fair (GNOSEF) at Tulane University, sponsoring the Senior Division investigative projects category in the field of Electrical Engineering.

The GNOSEF hosted 350 students in the Region IX parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard and Plaquemines. Entrants fall into two divisions: the Junior Division, comprised of 6th- through 8th-grade students, and the Senior Division, comprised of students in grades 9-12. Continue reading
